Does Advanced Auto Parts Employees get raises by sales? Like a driver/sales person.Would a quota of sales be what managers are suppose to go by? Kinda like car sales? ucbearcatguy29 replied: "I am a sales associate at an Advance Auto Parts store. I am not a manager. We don't get rasises by how much we sell. They do give "Spiffs" for certain iteams you sell. Like last month you would get one doller for every certain wiper blade you sell. Currently it is on light bulbs." On the advanced auto parts website? I searched for alternator and it has the price and under the price it says 50.00 core, so what does core mean? Dave replied: "It means if you do not turn in your old one to be used as a core for another rebuild you will have to pay $50 more than price of alternator.Or they will use your $50 core charge as a deposit and refund it to you upon return of your old one."
James S replied: "The core charge is what they charge you to make sure you bring back the old part so it can be rebuilt. In this case when you take back the old alternator they will give you $50.00 back. You can turn in the old alternator when you buy new one and they won't charge a core deposit."

My check engine light has been showing, I went to Advanced Auto Parts to see what's wrong with my car...? I've had this happen before and was told that all I needed to do was screw in the gas cap tighter. I'd try that before anything else."

uticaff replied: "mass air flow meter? manifold absolute pressure? if its a maf they can get up to $150 or so. the good thing it is a very easy fix and you should be able to do it yourself."

And why are you going to an auto parts store instead of a mechanic with a check engine light? They only read your codes hoping to sell parts, and it's only as good as the kid on the counter when you get there."
inkncraig replied: "This is the air/fuel ratio sensor other wise known as a O2 (oxygen) sensor. Depends on the grade of part you buy. If you buy dealer parts or from Advanced..."

mrharris32 replied: "The air fuel meter in your car is also commonly referred to as an O2 sensor....unless you have an additional meter somewhere in the system this is most likely the case for you.
The O2 sensor is located in the exhaust system. Usually 1 or 2 sensors before the catalytic converter and 1 or 2 after it. These sensors basically relay information to the computer about how lean or rich it needs to be running.
A good service rep would have known this and told you. Furthermore if the right scanning tool is used you will get a bank # to go with the error code. This bank # indicates which O2 sensor is malfunctioing.
Depending on the vehicle you can expect to pay between $30 and $90 per sensor...difference between a tiny car and an SUV basically. Typical shop labor to replace and install a sensor is around $40...sometimes a bit less.
I would recommend you take it to a reputable shop in your area, request they run diagnostics and then follow through with the repair. A malfunctiong "air fuel meter" or O2 sensor will cause a significant drop in gas mileage, performance, etc.

Who makes advanced auto parts oil? and is Vavoline oil better than Havoline ? doug h replied: "it's whoever advance buys it from. it very much could be Valvoline makes it for them. i believe oil is like gasoline there are only so many refiners in the country. the different brands pretty much take the same oil and sometimes they may add some of there own additives. it's like ketchup. a company might bottle for Hinze and out of the same batch do Kroger brand. that's not guaranteed all the time but the cost is usually all in the name. and Valvoline and Havoline are probably comparable to one another." whats the song played in the advanced auto parts commercial? its just like a guitar solo... the commercial that says..."take your coffee black... not your oil"

Love that song :)" advanced auto parts and their policies? i bought a new battery for 75.00 for my car. no offer to help carry it out.got it home ,my husband put it in my car, and it was also dead.took it back,and had to pay 2.00 more dollars for heaven knows what.i'm so mad,i took my money to napa auto ,got treated wonderful, and it works for 10.00 less.i think it is because i'm female,and i think they should say something.i went to their web site and complained but haven't heard anything.do you think they should do something? Napa Auto Jay replied: "good luck getting them to do anything as far as a complaint. i run a napa store directly across the street from an advanced auto (weve been there for over 30yrs) we hear so many horror stories from advanced customers... best thing you could do is ignore the complaint dept they dont go anywhere.but instead call 1800-let-napa and tell them what happened and tell them how you were treated by the napa store. (it would make that store feel real good to hear)" |
